Well baseball is back.  Tristan’s old Little League decided to become a Pony League this year, so it’s been interesting so far.  When it was a little league, most people didn’t take it too seriously but now there is a much more competitive vibe to it.  Tristan wanted to keep playing at the same place instead of going to another little league.  Pony has some different rules and mostly uses the same rules as professional baseball, like you can steal bases at any time and there is no 5 run limit in an inning.  They also play more games, some time playing more than one game during the week and another on Saturday with a practice squeezed in, keeping Tristan busy. So far Tristan likes it and his coach seems good and to know what he is doing.  The coach is new to Olive, having coached travel ball before, but his kids go to Nohl Canyon so Tristan knows them.  Tristan missed opening day, as he had caught a virus, which he was pretty bummed about, and the second game got rained out.  He finally go to play in the third game.

One of Gavin’s cub scout pack events was a trip to the Long Beach Aquarium.  It was scout day there, so it was really busy.  It was interesting going there in a little of hoard of 20 little boys.  Just keeping them all traveling in the same direction in the crowds was a bit nerve-racking.  Gavin loves nothing better than running around with his friends, so he had a ton of fun.  Tristan came along too and had a lot of fun seeing all the animals.  Gavin made me take him back three times to the tank where you can pet the sharks (little ones).  It was a tiring day, but everyone had a good time.

For Gavin’s birthday this year, he wants to go with his brother on the truck tour at the San Diego Wild Animal Park, so he didn’t get a party with his friends.  However, he did get to go to Disneyland, just me and him, which let him run the show.  Normally I take both boys and there is a certain amount of friction between them about what rides to go on and how late to stay — Tristan’s good for about 6 hours and Gavin would like to stay until close.  He had a lot of fun deciding where to go, and being told ‘Happy Birthday’ all day — we made sure and stop to get his birthday pin at the main street town hall.  He had lunch at his favorite Disney restaurant, The Blue Bayou.  The day wrapped up with dinner at The Rainforest Café where Brenda and Tristan, along with Memaw and Pepaw met us.  Gavin sat at the table and was sure that the Gorilla down a bit from us was staring right at him and hid when ever it started to move. Overall I think he had a lot of fun.
