The Scappers had a good game today, and Tristan had his best game of the season.  He was rewarded with the game ball at the end of the game.

1st inning
At bat- Tristan didn’t bat this inning. The Scrappers had a good inning loading up the bases and scoring 2.
Field – Tristan played right field. Tristan had a ball hit to him which he fielded cleanly. The grasshoppers came back and scored 3.

2nd inning
At bat – The Scrappers had one base runner this inning who was thrown out stealing third.
Field – Tristan sat this inning. Grasshoppers scored 1 more run.

3rd inning
At bat – Tristan got up and hit the first pitch into center field. He got thrown out on the next batter trying to go from first to third on a hit. The scrappers didn’t score this inning.
Field – Tristan played center field this inning. Tristan caught a fly ball. Grasshoppers scored 3 more.

4th inning
At bat – base running errors continue to plague the scrappers. Their lead off batter got a double and stole 3rd but got caught in a pickle trying to steal home as well. Another runner at third ran into an out as the pitcher fielded a ball right in front of him and just turned and tagged him. The scrappers did score 1.
Field – Tristan played short stop this inning. Tristan took a throw and got an out at second.  Grasshoppers scored 2 more.

5th inning
At bat –  Tristan got a base hit and drove in a run and then stole 2nd. He advanced to 3rd on the next batter and scored. In all the scrappers scored 3 this inning.
Field – Tristan played short stop again this inning. Tristan fielded a fly ball by third and made a good throw to 2nd to keep the runner to a single. Tristan made the 3rd out by fielding a ball that got by the 3rd baseman and making a good throw to second to get the runner.

6th inning
At bat – the Scrappers loaded the bases but were unable to score. Tristan did not bat this inning.
Field – the game was called due to time.

Well our favorite time of year at Disneyland has started, with the decorating for Halloween.  Disneyland really goes all out decorating the park, though our favorite are the Christmas decorations.  They both love the Nightmare before Christmas setup for the Haunted House.

This time I did something different and made notes during the game.

1st inning
At Bat- Tristan did not bat but the Scrapers scored one run on a hit by Jesse who got a single then scored on 3 throwing errors by the other team
Field- Tristan started the game playing short stop. He did not field any balls this inning. The Hot Rods came back and scored 4 runs

2nd inning
At Bat- Tristan got up this inning but struck out. The scrapers did not score.
Field- Tristan played left field this inning. Hot Rods scored 2

3rd inning
At Bat-The Scrapers threatened in the 3rd getting the bases loaded but ended the inning with a runner thrown out trying to steal home.
Field- Tristan played 3rd this inning. Two runners stole third but Tristan was not able to get either out. Tristan did a good job fielding a ball that was hit toward third but was deflected by the picture trying to field it. Hot rods scored 3 more runs.

4th inning
At Bat- Tristan struck out again but he fouled off a couple this time. And I think the strike 3 call was a little iffy. The Scrapers threatened again but were not able to score.
Field- Tristan played left field this inning. Defensively the Scrapers had a good inning getting their first one-two-three inning.

5th inning
At Bat- the Scrappers again loaded the bases but were unable to score.
Field- the game was called due to time so the scrappers did not field he 5th inning.

Well cub scouts has officially kicked off with the first pack meeting.  Gavin thought it was pretty boring as it was just a lot of information for parents and setting up the dens and meeting people, nothing fun.  He did get to be part of the color guard and brought the cub scout flag in (see video).  Next meeting should be more fun and there is a camp out next month that he’s looking forward too.

Way back on his 9th birthday, Tristan asked for a cockatiel.  But the timing never seemed to work out right.  We’ll he finally got it on Tuesday.  He decided to name him King, as he has a crown.

Tristan did well in his first game, against the NESALL Dodgers.  He didn’t get any hits, but his first time out he fouled off 5 straight pitches before hitting one.  Unfortunately it went straight to the second baseman, as did his hit the second time he was up.  Still he was making good contact with the ball, which is encouraging.

In the field he played left field and short stop.  At short stop he caught a line drive and fielded a ground ball.

Well the school year is back in full swing. It was a fun summer but both Brenda and I were ready for the kids to go back to school I think.  It’s a full time job keeping them occupied and not killing each other.

Tristan started fall ball, so there will be more baseball news soon.  He missed his first game Saturday as he was sick.  We’re not sure what yet, but it’s looking like strep throat.  We’ll see what the doctor says tomorrow.

Gavin talked with someone at school about Cub Scouts and asked if we could go.  We went to the sign up meeting and two of his friends were there, so I think he’s going to be scouting this year.

The dogs are getting big.  They’re finally housetrained so we took down the kennel area we made for them in our bathroom.  It didn’t occur to me at the time, but they are used to getting their breakfast at 6:30 when we all get up for school.  They reminded us of this by jumping on the bed and running around this morning.  So much for sleeping in on the weekend.
