This week in lego class Gavin made a motorized top spinner.  It used a small motor to spin a top that he could then release to spin on the ground.

Tristan had less fun.  He had to go in and get braces, which he will have for two to two and a half years.  By the end of the day his mouth hurt so much he said he wanted to punch his orthodontist.  Gavin, of course, spared no time in pointing out to his brother that he had straight teeth and wouldn’t need braces.  Tristan’s feeling better today, so hopefully he’ll get used to the braces soon.

On Tuesday Orange Unified had a non-student day, so I figured it would be a good chance to take the kids to Disneyland when it shouldn’t be crowded.  It was a good day and we went on a lot of rides.  I would have skipped this in the update, except Tristan got mad at me there.  Why do you ask?  Because he wanted to leave at 5pm, and I MADE HIM STAY AT DISNEYLAND.  He wanted to go home and work on his book report.  What time to leave is a constant battle between Gavin and Tristan.  Tristan poops out early and Gavin could stay to close every time.

Tristan also wanted to cut trick or treating short on Halloween so he could go home and read.   I’m not sure what we did, the kid’s some kind of mutant or something.  (Just kidding, he’s a very good kid)

This year Tristan decided to be a knight and Gavin a soldier.  Like normal, we went over to my mom’s neighborhood pumpkins in tow.  The kids had fun going around trick or treating, though the neighborhood was kinda dead this year.  We noticed a lot less houses handing out candy, and a lot fewer decorations.  In the past year there were some really elaborate houses, with mazes and animated decorations, sounds, fog, that kinda thing.  That was almost totally missing this year, which put a damper on things a bit.  The kids still had fun and got a good candy haul, mostly because I think most of the houses were handing out multiple pieces of candy as there seemed to be a lot less kids this year too.  Gavin wore his costume to the cub scout pack costume contest and won “most scout like.”

Scrappers vs athletics
11/2/13

1st inning
Field – Tristan started the game at shortstop. The scrappers had a very good first inning. Only allowing one base runner due to a walk, who was stranded at first.
At bat – Tristan was moved up to lead off hitter no doubt due to tear he been on the last couple of games. Tristan got two strikes on him before he battled back to get a walk. He then promptly stole second base on the first pitch. He was not able to advance on that batter but was able to steal third on the net. He then scored when the batter got a single. The scrappers scored 5 scoring the run by stealing home. It was a very exciting inning.

2nd inning
Field – Tristan was back out at short stop this inning. The scrappers had another good inning giving up two base runners but not allowing any runs.
At bat – Tristan came up third and hit he first pitch right at he first baseman. He bobbled the ball and just managed to pick it up and tag the base right before Tristan got there. Tristan was able to advance the runners on base to second and third. The scrappers scored 2 more leaving the bases loaded.

3rd inning
Field – Tristan played center field this inning. The athletics came back scoring 5 this inning stealing home twice.
At bat – the first batter got on with a fly ball. He hen stole 2nd and hen third and was able to score on a bad throw to 3rd. Tristan walked and stole second but was stranded there. The scrappers scored one this inning.

4th inning
Field – Tristan was back at short stop. The As scored 2 and then managed to load up the bases. The scrappers got out of the inning on a strikeout and a pop up that was caught. It was very tense at the end of the inning.
At bat – the scrappers scored 3 this inning.

5th inning
Field – Tristan was at short stop again this inning. The scrappers held he As to two runs this inning.
At bat – game was called due to time so he scrappers did not bat.

Well  I messed up and deleted the game notes before I posted them.  Tristan had a good game.  The first time he came up there were bases loaded and hit a double into center field.  The second time he came up he hit one hard for a single through the infield.
